Terms of Service

Last updated: August 25, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of StudioFolio (the app and website at studiofolio.app, and the client gallery site at gallery.studiofolio.app) — together, the "Service", operated by StudioFolio ("StudioFolio", "we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. What StudioFolio is

StudioFolio is a business tool for photographers. It helps a photographer (a "Studio") organize clients and projects, share proofing galleries with their own clients (a Studio's "Clients"), publish a public booking page, and send contracts — using cloud storage the Studio already owns (such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive) or, optionally, StudioFolio's own managed storage. StudioFolio does not host or copy a Studio's original photos when the Studio connects their own storage; it stores metadata and mints temporary signed links to the Studio's storage.

2. Accounts & eligibility

3. Subscriptions, billing & the Founding 50 program

4. Your content

You (the Studio) retain all ownership rights to the photos, client records, project details, and other content you upload or connect through StudioFolio ("Your Content"). You grant StudioFolio a limited license to access, store metadata about, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you and the Clients you choose to share it with. You're responsible for having the rights necessary to store and share Your Content this way, including any rights or consents needed from the people in your photos.

5. Client galleries & your Clients' data

When you share a gallery, booking page, or contract with a Client, you are responsible for that relationship — pricing, delivery, contract terms, and communicating with your Client directly. StudioFolio processes gallery selections, comments, and contract data on your behalf, as described in the Privacy Policy, and isn't a party to the underlying arrangement between you and your Client.

6. Contracts feature

StudioFolio's contracts feature lets you send an agreement to a Client for their signature. It's a tool for capturing and storing that agreement — StudioFolio doesn't draft, review, or guarantee the legal enforceability of any contract's contents, and doesn't provide legal advice. You're responsible for the terms of any contract you send.

7. Third-party storage & services

If you connect a third-party storage provider (Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Amazon S3, Backblaze B2, or a compatible endpoint), your use of that provider is also governed by its own terms — StudioFolio isn't responsible for that provider's availability, changes, or actions (including revoking access or changing its API). If you use StudioFolio Cloud Storage, it's provided as part of your subscription subject to any storage limits shown at checkout.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates this section, with notice where reasonably possible.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time by contacting us at the address below. We may suspend or terminate your account for a material breach of these Terms, non-payment, or if required by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; data handling on account deletion follows the Privacy Policy.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, StudioFolio disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any third-party storage provider will remain available or unchanged.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StudioFolio won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid StudioFolio in the 12 months before the claim arose (or $100 if you're on the free plan).

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold StudioFolio harmless from claims arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or a third party's rights (including a Client's).

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as StudioFolio's features evolve. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify active subscribers. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, and any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Zimbabwe. Payment processing for paid subscriptions is handled by Freemius, Inc., our payment processor and merchant of record for the transaction itself — the purchase is also subject to Freemius's own terms, provided to you at checkout.
